Welcome, and thank you for visiting deacondarrell.com, the official blog site of Darrell B. Harrison. deacondarrell.com is a ministry of Just Thinking Ministries, an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of which I am founder and president.

I decided to name this site deacondarrell.com in recognition my having been ordained in 2012 as the first black deacon in the more than 200-year history of First Baptist Church of Covington, Georgia, where I was a member at the time. Believer it or not, starting a blog was not my idea. I created it at the encouragement of two friends of mine, who also were members at First Baptist Church of Covington, and who were supportive of the long-form cultural commentary I had been writing on Facebook (I am no longer on Facebook and am only on X, formerly Twitter, in terms of my social media presence). With the success of the Just Thinking podcast, which was launched in 2017, I no longer have the time to write articles for my blog as often as I would like, though I do publish new content as my schedule allows.
